Acrylic Pouring Painting  – Tuesday, Sept 24 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm  with Lesley Hamilton –  $50

A fluid art technique using acrylic paint on canvas that creates a unique piece of abstract art. Everyday household items are used to create this painting. We use paper towels and balloons to make the magic happen.  All you need is your imagination.  Supplies are included, wear old clothing and bring a 12×12 box to carry home the painting as it may still be wet when finished. 


Be Prepared Workshop – Wednesday, Sept 25 from 6 pm to 8 pm with Age Friendly Peterborough – Free

Presented by Age Friendly Peterborough, this free seminar is geared towards older adults who are planning for the future.  You will received your own Be-Prepared Workbook, learn how to use the workbook and discover and discuss preparation strategies.  The workbook is a tool with checklist, prompting questions and resources to help you take control in the chaos of life’s uncertainties.


Food for Thought – Thursday, Oct 3  from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm with Kathryn Matheson – $8

This 60-minute workshop to learn more about how nutrition and movement can support cognitive and mental health as part of a broader strategy for healthy aging. Participants will receive practical strategies and easily implementable recommendations for how to support a healthy brain and body as they age.  In addition, everyone in attendance will receive a tip sheet and recipe collection to take home. This is a great opportunity to learn more about why nutrition matters to cognition.


Pranayama Breath Work – Thursday, Oct 17 from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm with Josee Caron – $8

Pranayama is the ancient practice of controlling your breath. You control the timing, duration, and frequency of every breath and hold. The goal of pranayama is to connect your body and mind. It also supplies your body with oxygen while removing toxins


Mindful Meditation – Thursday, Oct 10 from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm with Susan Stevenson – $8

Meditation helps to reduce the effects of stress and anxiety and gives us a sense of peacefulness and wellness in our everyday lives.  Many people feel that meditation is not for them because they feel their minds are way too active and they can’t sit still. The style of meditation presented in this workshop will show you that you don’t need to follow a rigid and restrictive process. Mindfulness meditation offers a serenely playful approach to learning to experience the world and your life, within the context of the calming influence of mindfulness.

Participants will leave this workshop with a simple outline for a brief meditation practice that can be continued at home.


Trager/Mentastic -Thursday, Sept 26 from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm with Michelle Godfrey – $8

Mentastics is” Mindful Movement for Daily Living.”

Uses gentle non-invasive movements to free the body of pain, tension and to cultivate deep relaxation. It is incredibly beneficial for anyone dealing with: general aches and pains, fibromyalgia, chronic daily pain, arthritis, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, depression, sports injuries, limited mobility, rigidity and tremors. The workshop will include participants receiving an experience of a kinesthetic approach to learning, in fact remembering what their body has already known, before the aging process accelerates or a disease is experienced.  Anyone can do Mentastics, they are playful movements that are done mostly sitting and some standing. 


Vagus Nerve – Thursday, Oct 24 from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm with Susan Stevenson – $8

The vagus nerve is one most powerful and influential forces in our lives. It affects our mood, anxiety level, digestion, sleep and how we recover from illness. Strong vagal tone can improve overall health, physical stability and emotional balance. It is the tenth cranial nerve and is the longest nerve in the body.

In this workshop, you will learn simple and enjoyable ways to tone and strengthen this nerve and feel the relaxation and calmness that will result. You will be provided with an outline for home practice so that you can continue your e proration at home.
